Someone Needs to Buy These

Here and there for the past few days, I have been rolling out an encore of “Joe Famolare and the Platform Shoe,” which is a summary of a workshop that was conducted several years ago. As I was surfing around, I came across a pair of Famolare skates with the iconic bicycle label. I did not know about the existence of skates before. I have not seen them in any older ads, nor do I remember them.
These are not for men, but for a ladies size 8, so ladies, you might want to snap these up right away. I don’t know when I will ever see another pair like them. They are available on Etsy from the VinnyandVernelle’s. CLICK HERE to grab them before they are gone!

Those are pretty cool and look like clog roller skates! I dare not buy them, if I tried street skating now I would damage myself for sure.
I loved Famolares! I worked at a shoe store after school in the 70’s and used my discount to be platforms. Too cool!

About 2 years ago I contacted the company. I was hoping with this retro move in fashion they would bring these back! I owned 3 pairs back in the day, saving my allowance for months to buy 1 pair! I literally wore them till they fell apart and I weeped each time. I’m over 40 now but I would so rock these shoes today and proudly! By the way the reply was no plans at the moment and since 2 years have passed I am guessing they wont, sadly. Thanks for your post.
It seems doubtful, unfortunately. It seems that time has just marched on and folks don’t think this style is as relevant as it once was. I will admit some of the new styles of roller blades and skates have additional safety features when compared to these, but do we really have to bubble wrap kids – and even adults – in like we do? Hopefully, you will get lucky on one of the auction sites or in a resale shop somewhere soon. You wouldn’t happen to have photos from back in the day, would you?
