Happy Halloween

halloween2.jpgVintageGent’s Menswear Daily wishes you and yours a Happy Halloween.

The card reads: “A Pumpkin Head I Would Like to Be If In Your Arms You Would Take Me.”

Well, truthfully, I would not under any circumstances want to be a pumpkin head.  I would get pretty rotten after awhile and start to smell.  Maybe I would be a home to small creatures after I was thrown out.  Who knows.   The general idea of being willing to be turned into a pumpkin head just to get the rare chance to be held by an admirer is pretty desperate, don’t you think?  I wouldn’t want to be in a relationship where someone wouldn’t give me the time of day unless I transformed myself to an unassuming vine growing vegetable or a household object so that they may be tricked into holding me without their consent or knowledge.     The early part of the century had a few macabre traditions or superstitions that thankfully are not widespread now, no matter how delightful some of the clothing or modes of transportarion were.

I digress.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween.  Razors in candy are largely an urban legend with a few copycats so let your kids have as much candy as they want.  They are only kids one time, and if they trade candy with the shrewdness of Las Vegas bookies with their friends until the wee hours, and then all fall asleep on the floor in a major sugar crash, they can learn from their own lesson.

I remember trading like an LV bookie when I was a kid. Good times. Hope you had a good Halloween too.
