Are You The Conversation If You Sit On A Conversation Piece?

September 8th, 2009

pianostool.gifELTE has been providing furniture and lighting in toronto since 1944. I found quite a few arm chairs that would fit into a very Art Moderne style of decor, hidden in their “traditional” section. However, what stopped me short was this piano stool. I can’t exactly decide what fashion movement it represents, and I have never seen anything quite like it. It has a traditional vibe with the nail heads leather, that appears to have a hint of oiling to it, or patina. The open legs instead of the traditional four legs or tripod give it a more modern flavor.  I haven’t decided if this stool reminds me of something a sea captain would sit on in a map room, or if it would be more at home in a library or smoking room.

The price is $775.00 Canadian.  Today, but maybe not other days, it translates to about $689.46 in American dollars.  I won’t be evicting my dining room chairs and replacing them with them, but they certainly are a conversation piece.  That’s an interesting question.  Is something only a conversation piece when there is one of them?  When there are more, does it diminish their uniqueness or make the conversation just last longer.   That is something to ponder.

Wow! ELTE does it again. Hahaha. I must go there 10 times a year but I’ve never seen that stool!!! It’s amazing! Did you see it recently? They’re traditional stuff has to the best in Canada but lately it’s their modern collections that are impressing me.

To answer your question: The stool will be a conversation piece regardless if there’s one, two, or three in your house. It’s that beautiful. It’s so industrial yet elegant. The lines are amazing! Did you buy it yet!?!?!

Hi Ella, thanks for stopping by!

To answer your question, the stool is on their website. There is an item number, so don’t know if that is special order or if you can ask for it in the store.

I had a great time poking around at all the different things they have.

To answer your other question: No, not yet. I am sort of in transition at the moment, having made a major move across state lines and I am not quite settled into a permanent locale just yet. Probably early in the year I will be back into adding more pieces. I do keep looking at the stool though. And looking. And looking. I wish they had a store stateside, though.

Well I know for a fact that they’ll deliver anywhere you need: across Canada, US, or elsewhere. I have a few sets of friends that got me to shop for them at ELTE. They had me take pictures in the store (be sure to ask a salesperson first LOL) and then I sent them the prices and information and they put in the order over the phone I believe. Whenever I travel, I always ask around to find the best home store in that area. There’s a beautiful store in New York, one in LA, but Toronto wins in my opinion.

I’m warning you though – I might need to steal that stool! LOL. Thanks for the posting the link. I found a few other pieces on their website. I’m loving this table:
