Disposable Wedding Cameras: Since 1942?

December 30th, 2012

camera.medFifteen and twenty years ago, disposable cameras were everywhere and now are a bit of a novelty. Disposable wedding cameras remain the sole en masse use. The single use camera did not debut in the 80s, but rather the 1940s.

The first disposable camera was made by Photo Pac. An eager set of fingers could send a way for the brown cardboard marvel, take a few snaps, then return it to a photo finisher.

Back in the day, you could rent a preloaded camera at a national park when you saw something interesting. The camera eliminated the hassle. The camera didn’t really catch on and the concept fizzled out. If you find one today, its quite the collectible.
