I would make haste, as it is just around the corner, and space is limited to only twenty vendors.  If it is just something you want to pop in at and check out, the address for the event is located at 394 Broadyway, 4th Floor, New York, in the heart of the fashionable Tribeca area, at the Chacala Secret Spot. Chacala works in cooperation with Laura Little Productions.

There are some great programs going on in the area of career mentoring for creative people that you will want to check out if you are a designer or artist.  It is very hard for some people to make it in the industry for several reasons.  Some folks have talent to spare, but lack focus.  Some have it “all” but just need to make the right connections and get the occasional encouragement they need.

If you go to the event as a designer, or just someone popping in, I would love to hear about your experience.  If you have some great photos, or have any interesting commentary, I’ll publish a “round up” in the summer if there is enough response.

The Guggenheim is opening its anyplacewhatever exhibit. As a part of it, there is a bed and bureau on rotating discs that you can actually stay overnight in.  You will receive breakfast in bed, but must check out by eight thirty in the morning, lest the museum visitors see you or get a hint of your presence.  Oddly enough, the room is booked for the entire rest of 2008. Rates are $299 to $550 a night to be “part of the exhibit.”

There is no minibar, and no other food is allowed in the exhibit, so make sure you have dinner and get yourself all set for the night before turning in.

John’s Grill has been around since 1908.  Inside, the interior looks exactly the same as it did back in the day when Dashiell Hammett hung out there.  Okay, it is the same except for some memorabilia that is now on display that gives a nod to The Maltese Falcon and old San Francisco. In fact, some first editions are on display here. I wonder if you sat on Mr. Hammett’s stool, a gumshoe novel would start to percolate in your brain.  Add it to your list of stops and find out.
